Replacing Coffee with Something Better and Healthier
August 24, 2017
Before I was fully committed to my Wellness Journey, I was an average coffee drinker; maybe less than average. A cup and a half a day was enough to fully wake me and keep the caffeine headaches at bay. Any more than that and my stomach would be a mess. I had actually tried quitting once or twice in the past but gave up after the caffeine headaches became too much.
I started to take my intake of coffee seriously when my husband kept having adverse effects like an increased blood pressure, anxiety and the possibility of ulcers. Now of course, everyone’s body is unique and reacts differently, but I was not okay with being dependent on something that really wasn’t doing anything for me expect for a short burst of energy.
Eventually, I began to hear and read more and more about the benefits of drinking lemon water first thing in the morning. I’ll admit, I was skeptical: how can something so simple, be so good for me in so many different ways? Well, let me tell you, I was not disappointed! Here are the benefits of lemon water:
You may be wondering why you should drink lemon water first thing in the morning. Well, you have to remember that in the amount of time that you have slept, you have had nothing to drink (hence the word break – fast). So this beverage is a great way to rehydrate yourself upon waking up which provides sooo many benefits.
It kickstarts your metabolism (especially when you add a couple sprinkles of cayenne pepper)
It wakes you up almost instantly
Detoxifies and cleanses your body
Treats and prevents kidney stones
So what are you waiting for? I’d love to hear what your results are, and if you have any questions, please let me know.
1 glass of room temperature water
½ a lemon (please, please, do not use concentrated lemon juice)
For an extra metabolism boost: 3-4 sprinkles of cayenne pepper
For an extra cleansing boost: 4 tbs of aloe vera juice
For an extra immune boost: 4 tbs of apple cider vinegar with “mother”
